Description

Wine of Australia. Four Time – International Winemaker of the Year – IWSC Trophy – 2009, 2011, 2012, 2016. The classic Australian Shiraz has rich flavours of ripe plum, blackcurrant and spices. Well rounded with a smooth, mouth filling finish, it is a perfect accompaniment to most dishes, especially tomato-based Italian and red meats. #McGuiganWines

Dad loved this as it was his Father’s Day present. Smooth and fruity wine with a deep smoky aftertaste. Great with meat or cheese

I didn’t like this wine at all. I didn’t like the taste of it. Seemed very cheap.I immediately got a horrible headache for two days after having a glass. And then felt very flushed in my face. That is usually the case for me when the wine has some added nasties to it.So I won’t be buying again.

~ McGuigan~ Australia~ ‘Black Label’~ Shiraz~ 12.5% Vol~ 750 mlTried at a Christmas function with ‘Lamb Tagine’ as the feature dish (in more ways than one), this Shiraz is particularly well balanced ~ smooth with more than a sweet hint so went down well with those more reluctant to try a ‘red’.Best served at room temperature, to me, red & black berries and plum present with creamy vanilla and just a touch of spiciness on the fade, without being bitter.Went equally well with the tasty vegetarian casserole, and a creamy cheese board to wind up.

This is a nice shiraz. Prices vary depending on where you buy it – most and £6.50ish some try £8. It has a smooth fruity taste. I have a feeling they put sugar in it… Whatever, the 2018 they’re currently selling at 12% vol is a nice drink by itself or with say spag bol or other pasta dishes – offsets the slightly bitter tomato taste. Overall a nice red wine.

After opening the first bottle I noticed that the vintage year was 2018 and that the alcohol was only 12% instead of 13.5% as stated in the description. Decided to keep it as had opened a bottle and would cost to much in p/p to return. Drinkable but that’s about all – you can really taste the lack of body compared with the 13.5% version – will probably give it away as Xmas presents – to people I don’t like. Cheers.

I “discovered” this smooth red whilst holidaying in Australia and it appears to be the most popular red over there. Now it is my favourite

This is a great wine, usually retailing at approx £8/bottle. Plum, Blackcurrent and a hint of spice. The wine is very young and has a reasonable amount of body to it. Matches superbly with Red Meat, Italian tomato based dishes, salami, bacon flavoured crisps, chili nachos, chocolate, black forest gateau, cheese, bombay spice mix and annoying social gatherings.Decanted into a ships decanter and allowed to breath for an hour it really does taste superb, however who can wait for an hour? At this price you can open the first bottle, while the second one breathes. The fact I can now order on Prime for next day delivery, hides my growing alcohol dependency from my local retailers.

If you’re a connoisseur looking for a fantastic full-bodied taste sensation this may not be for you but, if like me, you like a nice glass (or 5) at the weekend that’s good quality, easy drinking and pairs nicely with a multitude of foods….BUY IT!
